Dr. Ashton was born in Mountain View, California and grew up in the Bay Area with her parents and two older brothers. She went to Castilleja School for high school where she enjoyed playing soccer and running track and cross-country. Growing up, she also played the piano for ten years and spent summers hiking, backpacking, and mountain biking near Lake Almanor in Northern California.
She went to Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota where she studied International Relations/Political Economy, perfected her French and Spanish, and studied abroad in Morocco, learning some Arabic. After college she enrolled in San Francisco State University’s post-baccalaureate pre-health professions program and worked at UCSF in the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Departments as a study coordinator.
After three gap-years, she then went to Emory University School of Medicine where she pursued her love for primary care. She spent some time doing an Indian Health Services away rotation in Zuni, New Mexico, and also spent five months piloting a teen pregnancy intervention in Managua, Nicaragua.
She completed her residency training at Ventura County Medical Center, which houses the number one Family Medicine Residency Program in the nation. She received her buprenorphine waiver training and has a passion for reproductive health, adolescent medicine, and addiction medicine. She looks forward to becoming a part of your care team!
